Lightbulb 51 Point Pyromancer PVE Build + Macro & Rotation Included

51 Point Pyromancer PVE Build + Macro & Rotation Included

Hey guys! My mage is Ruski and im from the Asphodel-PVP Shard on the Defiant Side! This is my first post on riftjunkies!

This is the current build that im using for T1/T2 Dungeons.
    http://rift.zam.com/en/stc.html?t=0z...x.efueuusuts.V
    51 Pyro/10 Archon/5 Elementalist

First off, I'm going to start off by saying that this build is amazing for single target dps aswell as AOEing. You have basically infinite mana if you are wearing the right gear. I just started getting epics and im doing more and more dps everyday learning cool little tricks.

Now with gear selection I recommend that you go by the following:
    Focus (80~ T1, 100-150 T2) > Int > Spell Power > Crit > Wisdom

In terms of Spell Rotation, Pyromancer works on a priority system.
Here is a good macro to use that incorporates the spells that you need to cast and in the correct order.

    cast Inferno
    cast Countdown
    cast Flame Bolt
    cast Fireball

(With this macro, you will be using the spells that are most important and in the correct order. Inferno is OFF the GCD and should be kept on top to be used the split second it appears. Countdown is next so that you always have that one dot waiting to burst, Flame bolt gives the most punch per GCD and keeps Improved Flamebolt ticking, and then good old fireball to finish up the rotation.)

Now, You should be using Pyromancer's Armor so that you get instant Cinderburst Procs! Cinderburst wasnt included in the macro because it should only be casted when it is an instant procc because of the long cast time.

Also, if you have enough crit, casting Smoldering Power might not be needed, which gives you the option to cast fulminate everytime it is off cooldown. This spell hits like a truck with the right gear!

** When fulminate is on cooldown and your mana situation is right, be sure to use Internalize Charge to make good use of all your charge! **

So basically, with this build you can spam one macro the entire time, press a 2nd button for instant cinderbursts, and cast fulminate/smoldering power when the times are right.

Always use Ground of Power! and Using burning shield to pick up your ground of power and getting the absorption is always nice! Use burning shield when going to the next spot to pull that way you can instantly drop down a Ground of Power.

Ground of strength is awesome to use when soloing things because of the stun and damage reduction.

This is basically all you need to know to be able to dominate in a PVE Environment.

I hope you enjoyed reading this quick little pyromancer guide!
If you have anything to add, please leave a reply

    Thanks!

First of all ive got to thank you for taking the time to write such a nice guide and add that ive played quite alot of Pyro during my levelling dungeons and liked the spec a lot so i read your post with fascination and decided to try it out.

It should be mentioned that i normally play a Sc/Elem build in experts and that my gear still is pretty poor for a level 50

    My current stats are:
    352 Int
    238 Wis
    731 Sp
    384 Crit
    47 Focus

With that in mind i tried out your spec and went to the local normal target dummies and after 7min and 30 sec when my mana finally ran out (really good stamina in this build) i checked my Parser and it showed 494 dps which i felt was a little sub par in contrast to other builds available to us mages.

To make sure off this i first tried out my normal build that is rather similar to the Sc build in http://www.riftjunkies.com/forums/sh...PvE-Mage-Guide and it got 584 dps + pet 67 dps that is a whole lot more then the pyro spec and i feel that the difference is to big to have to do with my inexperience in the priority list or slight inaccuracy in the parser.
Also it should be said that this test only lasted just over 3 min when my mana ran out and that i in both tests used the enhancing abilities such as Internalize Charge.

As a bonus i might add that i also tried my archon build that did 498 dps which is the same as the pyro build with a whole lot more benefit to the party

its hard to really do an accurate analysis between different specs. this pyro build is based off luck to be honest. you can have a lucky chain of procs and crits, or it can do the complete opposite. You are potentially giving yourself a chance of doing an insane amount of damage but the damage fluctuates.

what it comes down to is having fun and being able to kill things quick. this build is perfect for that because you basically become a glass cannon lol

I am able to get more dps out of the standard NecroLock build than anything with Pyro.

I spent about 3 hours testing different rotations with Pyro/Ele because I really wanted to make it work. The rotation seems like it should be what the OP describes, but Pyro just falls short because it's GCD locked. The difference between just casting Fire Ball and the whole rotation isn't that big, which says that the synergy between the spells is weak and they're tripping over each other.

Also, all the instant filler before Fire Ball seems to work against Combust, making the dot uptime lower. I think they need to up the damage on Flame Bolt before Pyro will be able to compete.

Keep in mind that the Pyro/Ele build has the Int buff and 7% spell damage debuff which inflate your numbers compared to NecroLock on the target dummy, which could get those buffs from other classes.

I think a good alternative to this build will be Pyro51/Warlock10/Archon5. You take +25% charge generated and 10% instant-proc, and you also get Sacrifice Life: Mana, so that solves your mana problems, if any. Extra charge can be spent in any number of ways, from improving mana efficiency with Smoldering Power (if you don't have aoe-healers who will heal damage from your SacLife:Mana) to more frequent Intensifies.

Opportunity proc can be spent on Cinder Blasts if you can catch it, basically doubling Pyromancer's Armor, or consumed by a Fireball, improving its DPS.

Overall more charge and either double the amount of instant Cinder Blasts or instant Fireballs should improve your damage more than 5% crit from Elemental tree.

I use the Pyro/Warlock/Archon build and do very good dps on single target, one thing about this build is that you will want to wait a bit before popping Heatwave at the beginning of the fight or the tank might lose agro (wiped group at Totek, because cinder burst proc'd, heatwave was up and lock spell proc'd). After heatwave is done though your damage is okay, and probably doesn't quite compete with other single target builds. As for multiple targets, Pyro isn't the role for that, go sc/ele.

So I used 51 pyro/5 arch/5 ele, and I killed Scarn with 98% mana left. Who needs sacrifice?

I just wanted to mention that I had taken 1 point from Acheron and put into the warlock tree instead: http://rift.zam.com/en/stc.html?t=0z...efueuusuts.xxo.. gain a couple nice things .. 1) a dot 2) 2% more spell power 3) 40 stamina buff.
