    Mage survivability nonexistant?

As if right now, the only 2 specs i see for mages in warfronts that dont get blown up in a matter of 2-3 globals is chloro/locks and full chloros. Mages have ALOT more than just 2 souls so i'm wondering if the only reason is because of the rogue godmode currently? or do other also feel that more mahe specs need pvp survivability buffs?

I would love to see archon redone as a group pvp viable spec focused around buff and debuff support witg like an ability that removes all debuffs off all nearby raid members and places then on your enemy. or maybe to see necromancer get some sort of passive defensive talent that reduces damage taken, increases armor or even splits some damage to the pet.

    Opinions?

I feel the same way. I've been attributing it to the fact that I'm not R8 yet. The only specs I can last longer than 5 secs is chloro, chloro/lock, chloro/arch, or 51 warlock if I pop Shadow Life + Mortality. It the main reason I almost never run DPS spec in warfronts. You just have to sit in the back and aoe to be of any use.

I think alot of the mage souls need some better survivability but probably the quickest and broadest fix is to buff some of the defenses on the right side of the archmage tree and make degeneration, runeshield, and phase shift more on level with the other calling's pvp abilities.
Maybe replace the 5 point talent that reduces physical damage by 5% with a talent that reduces all damage from players only by 10%.
I think runeshield in its current form is kinda of a waste unless you really have no better use for your charge cause from what i've seen, if your being focused to the point you need to sacrifice all your charge to slightly reduce the damage of up to 5 hits, your going to die in the next 2-3 globals.
Rune shield should work more like a passive toggle that reduces damage you take by 15% from players but also slows charge generation and consumes a few points every time you get hit
as it is, I've never seen a mage kill someone or win while phase shifted. honestly it feels like trash. I think it should be more like the rogue's 5 src magic immunity but maybe like a 5 second physical damage immunity

    thoughts?

As far as survival. Try chloro.... I find lock and archmage to be the best pairing... and on the pvp soul ... try adding the +dmg because when u have chloro +dmg = + healing... better survival for u and ur pvp members

Well cholo and lock.doesnt have that much of a survival issue. My main issue is that as a pyro, dom, SC, elementalists etc. i have lots of tools that would be great in pvp if not for the fact that i usually die before i can ever cast a single spell. I'm not saying i want mages to be range tanks but it would be nice to have some more low point survivability so you can trade some of ur top end dps for the ability to actually live more than 4 sec when a rogue or warrior sees you.

On the topic of chloro, is it just me or does any rogue with points in nightblade or riftstalker pretty much cut off all healing? channel void life on a night blade while he has his cooldowns up and it ended up healing me for like 75 life each tick. it made me cry a little

Everyone is entitled to their own opinion. It's just that yours is stupid

Fell Blades is 50% healing debuff, if he has a dmg reduction cooldown up your healing is further reduced since the outgoing damage is cut in half or more, then cut in half again as it returns as healing

As far as all the other specs besides chloro... they do so much dmg that I think I would be wrong for a Pyro to survive like a chloro... take dmg over survivable spec...
